It's so good what you did for her.

It's a common response when people find out we adopted our daughter. But that statement couldn’t be more wrong. There are many other statements that actually fit better. Like, “That young lady has been a blessing in your life.” Or, “She’s the most amazing gift.” Or, “Isn’t it great to get a glimpse of what God did for us?” Adoption isn’t for everybody, but adoption needs to be supported by everyone—prayer, mentoring, encouragement, and even financial support. Adoption isn’t always a bed of roses. It’s hard helping a child deal with thoughts of abandonment, not feeling loved, trauma, and attachment issues. But, with all our kids, it’s important to teach them from John 15 that Jesus is all we need.
